Der Bauernhof: Landmark Historic German Home
Fredericksburg, TX, United States

An historic turn-of-the-century limestone rock home set in a large pecan orchard, inside Fredericksburg & just 3 min from Main St. This verdant 5 ac estate is a "throwback"; the remnant of a 30+ ac farm established by German immigrants in the 1800s. Sheep & whitetail deer graze in a pastoral scene; your own personal park. Experience Main St, Wine Road 290, shuffle to ♫ at Luckenbach, hike Enchanted Rock, see other unique Fredericksburg offerings, then return to this sanctuary. Relax & refuel.
Good to know
Der Bauernhof “The Farm” sits on 5 quiet acres in town! This house is the real deal. I know of no other place in Fredericksburg where you can have this much elbow room and privacy surrounding an authentic historic home and still be within the city limits, and so close to the center of the action. There is a conventional kitchen with the normal appliances, pots and pans, dishes and utensils. There is a wine bottle opener and some wine glasses. An electric drip coffee maker with coffee and all the typical supplies is provided. An electric kettle and some tea is also provided. This is a very cool old house with tons of charm, but it DOES NOT HAVE all the amenities of typical program style B&Bs. For example the bathrooms are just regular tub and shower combinations. There is NO HOT TUB. There is CABLE TV, but there is NO WiFi (no tether other than perhaps what you may bring with you on your personal cell phone). There is a DVD player and a very random assortment of movies. The house has quite a lot of character and most guests should find it fitting for their needs and expectations if the goal is to tour, see the sights, experience Fredericksburg and then afterwards have a private place to relax with lots of "elbow room". If you are coming to experience the Hill Country and it’s cultural roots, this may be the place for you!
Other Details to Note
This house is old and unique. We’ve tried to make the space feel homey and comfortable, but it is certainly not perfect. We’ve got squeaky floors and rustic doors. It is not “air tight” like a modern home. There are some things you have to be willing to deal with in an old house. The bathrooms are relatively small. Some people may be bothered by certain quirks and others might find them interesting. We offer this place for folks who can appreciate the authentic historical character of the house and enjoy the uniqueness of the setting.

Location
Fredericksburg, TX, United States
This is rural Texas, so it’s best to have your own car to get around. There are taxis and Uber. There is a little trolley service downtown, plus multiple limousine/bus/van companies that offer tours and shuttle service to the wineries and some other attractions; however, there is really nothing in the way of conventional mass transit. For winery tours: Call KK at Majesty Tours or James at Fredericksburg Uncorked.
